Thanks for all the advice. we aren't crate training for potty training, he is already potty trained. We are crating for behavior issues. He actually ate a wall when DH wasn't watching him close enough! Also, boxers are known to be energetic and smart so when they get bored, they tend to chew and get destructive so crate training is actually recommended for the breed. I will take the crate out to the TT and play with a few configurations based on the suggestions here. I may end up with an ex pen if the crate doesn't work.
