Crazy Lady or Good Puppy Mommy?

Very smart! I wish I could repair the toys the GSD destroys, but I'm not good enough with a needle!

Funny, the things you pick up off the ground on a walk. I save every abandoned sock and small rubber ball I find. Wash socks, stick a nice chewy rubber ball and/or a squeaker in the toe of the sock. Then tie a knot or machine sew back and forth across the sock an inch or two above the "additions." Let dog watch you throw the new toy and you won't see him for a few hours. I've never had them get that ball out of there, either. In another sock, I put three squeakers (cheap from Amazon) and sewed a line across the sock between each squeaker and another line at the top. Then I drew an eyeball on the sock over each squeaker. That "three-eyed monster" has been one of their favorite toys, played with more than store bought toys. Kids socks are especially good for this purpose if you have toy breed dogs. The sand box at the tot lot is a goldmine, sometimes. :W I don't pick up a pair, only the occasional orphan sock.

our Izzy never played with toys other than a wee sheep that she would pick up and move around the house ...one day it was missing and she cried and whimpered day in and day out so I went back to the same store and lo and behold there was another one...she knew right away that it wasn't her " baby " but did nuzzle it once in awhile..about a month later I was flipping the mattress on our bed and there was baby #1 caught between the mattress and the bed frame...Izzy cried and cried when I gave it to her...she nibbled and nibbled it.. she moves the two of them around everyday..they are on the top of our must take with list for when we move...she would be devastated without the babies...thankfully she doesn't tear them up as I can't sew LOL

Great idea. I have enough "holey" bjs to keep our dogs in toys for years. Wife can just sew a bell inside of the toy or even no bell.

Ha ha! I have recited that poem a time or two or forty for my (younger) husband, especially when Loppy had his special purple cow. The hubs always looked at me like I was crazy. Nope just a bit older..... But not quite your age. :W I would still rather see than be one!

If we're ever camped in the same spot I'd be glad to teach you the prize-winning hand gestures! :B

I repaired a purple cow toy for our Loppy several times. It was his favorite, once it was beyond repair he accepted a hedgehog toy and had many of them over the years.... They were much easier to find and buy replacements for then the purple cow. :) I say it is completely normal.

Oh my - I hadn't thought about that!!!!!!!

Your completely normal, at least from my perspective. I did the same thing for any of my dogs that were attached to a particular stuffed toy.
My buddy Zachery had a small stuffed Giraffe named Pede, he had to have or know where that guy was at all times, it was his. I repaired it so many times that when Zack passed away it was surely time to retire the giraffe so I buried Zack with his beloved Pede.
