So glad your dogs are all recovering, rockhillmanor. What a scare. At our old house, we had black cherry trees and dogs, but they never were interested in them. Thank goodness. Kudos to you for being proactive and finding the cause and posting it for the rest of us. I do remember those trees as being really dirty. I can't imagine how frantic you must have been.
I really appreciate doc's assessment about old age not being a disease. How true. My vet who is close to full retirement (I think he is hanging on just because of us!) always says, "You know your dog better than anyone." So if I tell him about symptoms or behavior, he is serious about exploring those details. Our one just went on thyroid meds at a very low dose. The vet who tested her said she was okay, but each of the 3 tests, was just ONE point off from being "bad." So my vet listened to us when we described her lethargic behavior and low energy levels and we are trying a very low dose. We think it is having a very positive effect.
Here's hoping your dogs continue their recovery and go on to live longer lives. Coongrats on your diligence.
