Our Husky, Diefenbacher, passed last year, he was 14. The last month of his life was the hardest for us as he struggled to eat and eventually move. He stayed strong to the end, mentoring our new fur baby who was six months old at the time of his death.
It's fun to watch some of the manorisms in Draco that Diefenbacher taught him, so its like we still have a little of Diefenbacher still in our lives. He died in my wife's arms and is now buried at the top of our property.
He will never be forgotten as his leash hangs by the door in our RV one of his favorite things to do.
Man it's hard to type through tears.
That is one of the perks of having more than one dog. They pick up each other's mannerisms sometimes, and it IS like having a small piece of the one that has departed, still hanging around.
For me, it's also easier going home when there is another dog there to hold and hug. When I lost my first dog, there were no others at home - that was horrible.
