Like the idea from CA POPPY of doing it evenings while watching TV. i have one of those finger brushes but don't do it often enough, so need to get into a better routine.
My problem is the dog loves the chicken flavor goop so much, she's trying to get at it to lick it off the finger brush while I'm fighting to get it into the side of her mouth and make up & down motions.
When my service dog arrived from Dogs for the Deaf , the trainer and I went shopping and bought lots of things, including the brush and enzymatic toothpaste, which she taught me how to use. She said it helps even to smear the doggy toothpaste well into the back on your finger if you aren't very good at brushing technique, and to let it sit on the dog's teeth to do its work, holding off on treats and water for a while after.
I have friends who swear by daily Virbac chews for tooth care, too.
