Some dogs definitely need their teeth cleaned. The vet told us that our Duncan needed his teeth cleaned and we thought it was just a money maker as we were uneducated. Unfortunately, we waited so long to do it that he developed heart problems due to it. We treated the heart problems with meds but had to put him to sleep when he was 12 due to congestive heart failure.
Our other dogs get their teeth cleaned as recommended by our vet. We don't want a repeat. Find a vet you trust. Just because one dog has good teeth, doesn't mean another dog does. When you know better, you do better.
