Some dogs definitely need their teeth cleaned. The vet told us that our Duncan needed his teeth cleaned and we thought it was just a money maker as we were uneducated. Unfortunately, we waited so long to do it that he developed heart problems due to it. We treated the heart problems with meds but had to put him to sleep when he was 12 due to congestive heart failure.
Our other dogs get their teeth cleaned as recommended by our vet. We don't want a repeat. Find a vet you trust. Just because one dog has good teeth, doesn't mean another dog does. When you know better, you do better.
Sorry to hear about Duncan.
You're absolutely right. It's the same with people. too.
Thank you. He was a sweet boy. He was going deaf and blind but was still getting around fine. The congestive heart failure was horrible and we couldn't let him suffer.
We said we weren't going to go back to a two dog family but here we are again. ;) The new mini golden doodle (she's about 17 months now) keeps our lhasapoo active. It took about 9 months before our lhasapoo would play with her without getting *****y.
And just to keep on-topic, our lhasapoo had her first teeth cleaning a few months ago. :)
