So far I've not needed to have my dogs' teeth cleaned.
My Brittany is 14.5 and the vet says he has the best teeth he's ever seen in a dog that age. I credit it to good genetics and luck. The dogs we had before him . . as far as I know that was back before the benefit of/need for dental cleanings was well known. Our vet certainly never said anything about it.
Our Shih Tzu is three and still has perfectly pearly white teeth. I suspect that will change, though, and he'll eventually need regular cleanings.
