Does Little Missy Foo Foo need a friend

We've had our Little Missy for almost 1 year now. She's a Lhasa Apso and about 3 years old. We got her from a Rescue League, and she did have trust issue when we first got her, but she's over them now. When camping she loves to play with other FRIENDLY dogs and doesn't let size intimidate her. It just seems that when we're home she seems to have this sad look to her. We've heard that little dogs like here enjoy, almost need a companion pal with them. Any thoughts on this, before we go out and rescue another little Lhasa Apso????
  • We've had two female dogs, then three females, all toy breed size and "fixed" since they were puppies. We haven't had any gender conflicts between them, but if we had, we would've handled it. I don't think you can generalize like that. We've lost the older two in recent years and now just have our min pin. She seems fine with being an only "child" but we sure do miss the others.
  • I've got 3 neutered males (poodles)....they all get along and love to chase each other around. If you want another dog, go for it.
  • Sher, I've had two neutered males several times with no issue, but I won't have two females. They tend to be very territorial. Sometimes they're okay until they both reach maturity. Some female/female pairs are okay forever, but when they're not, it's not pretty!

I'd get a male, to avoid any female/female issues.

Me either, two is our minimum but three works for us now.

I know Bubba(male) is thrilled we have adopted Csepki (male, they have a lot of fun together and snuggle together when they sleep.
Both being males made no difference but I normally agree with getting one female and one male, usually works better.

Our Lab Lucy might be ok as an only dog but she believes, truly believes that it's all about her.

But I really do believe it helps when camping too, when we go out to dinner or shopping where the dogs cannot go with us they have a companion to be with while we're gone. They are after all pack animals and it's much more natural for them to have a sibling, mate or whatever.

X2...couldn't have said it better myself.
