Dog afraid of crutches

I just had my tendon stitched together by my ankle it was split down the middle, and I can not bear weight and need to use crutches. Daisy is scared of them and will just bark when I am up and using them, any suggestions to get her to calm down? Thanks

    Part Beagle?

Have Daisy jump over them for a snack.

Have Daisy reach "through" an opening in crutches to get snack.

    She will come around quickly!

Almost every Beagle can be food rewarded.
  • I agree with Deb and Ed M. Put high value treats on the crutches, feed your dog with the crutches next to the food bowl, etc. Equate the crutches with good things!
  • LOL! My dogs didn't pay any attention to my crutches after my hip surgery. If they had reacted to them, I'd have delivered some string-cheese treats, placed over the end of the crutch ;-) Things that deliver food are never "bad", right?
  • Sounds like good advice from Anmacc2. It'll just take a bit of time--she'll come around.
  • Thanks, funny thing Daisy is part beagle. She is very sensitive and attached to me.
