Dog Crap

Has anyone else noticed a trend in resorts not allowing dogs? It hasn't happened often but some of the places we called were no longer allowing dogs. Reason was always the same; failure to pick up after their pets.

To that point, we were out in Canton, Texas at a very nice RV park. We were there for a week and no less than 5 times I saw different dog owners fail to pick up their dogs litter.

I love our dog. Like other pet owners dogs, she is a true member of our family. I would hate to see this trend pick up speed. I have decided to start saying something to these irresponsible owners - hurt feelings be damned.

If we don't start policing ourselves, I'm afraid more parks will ban pets. Has anyone else said anything to these kind of people?
  • If I see someone fail to clean up after their dog, I'm not shy about telling them to do so. If they ignore me, I'll say it again, loud enough for most of the CG to hear me. If public shaming doesn't work, I'll alert the CG staff. People only do these things because they keep getting away with it.
  • I don't have a dog, but I would no more expect someone to ignore my dog's poo, than I'd expect them to ignore if we dumped our black tank. Good idea on the extra bags.....as I said, I don't have a dog, but I'm going to start carrying some.....and 'politely' hand it to the offenders.
  • I see it more and more at campgrounds...people not cleaning up after their pets...kind of pathetic....everyone else pays for someone else's irresponsibility. We've ALWAY'S cleaned up after our 2 boxers, be it at a campground, a rest area or even at home in our yard.....Guess some people just don't get it....Guess some think they're "too good" to bag the poop and discard it in a receptacle designated for such.
  • Maybe a 2 x 4 would help. Got to get their attention first.:B
  • We always carry extra poo bags and offer them to those that don't have their own. That way if their excuse is they forget one they have one now.

Never heard that before. You may be able to fix irresponsible.
  • I do not get involved with the irresponsible dog owners but rather report them to the RV park managers. Let them take care of the problems and avoid any possible confrontations.
  • Good luck with this...and yes, it is getting worse.
We always carry extra poop bags so we can politely, "offer," them to those we see that did not pick up.

But, we often get a nasty look or even aggressiveness for our troubles.

  • So true, we have seen it quite often. We have always been diligent about picking up after our dog because we take the rules seriously, unlike some.
