Dog to dog aggression while camping

He needed to go get a leash or go home. No if, and's, or but's.

I would have talked (told) to the manager that they needed to correct the problem.
Ignorant, stupid owners that don't think their dogs need to be leashed are morons.

Rules are there for a reason. If everybody let their dog run loose it would be total chaos.

If it were me....If I had an extra leash or collar I would have lent it too him while he went and bought one....I would have talked to the CG owners and asked them to enforce the rules. If they failed then I would contact the local animal authorities and ask them to deal with the situation.

If the CG management won't enforce a leash rule, there is not much you can do. Endure it if you can't leave and don't go back. And be sure to sign up for http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ and express your concerns. I think that is the preeminent site for honest reviews of rv parks.

Don't talk to the host if they aren't enforcing the rules. Call the County Recreation department and ask for the person over the county campground. Also there may be a county leash ordinance. I would threaten to call animal control.

Completely baffles me that someone would have a dog without a collar at home, let alone somewhere away from home and in a public place.
Completely irresponsible dog owner.

I have multiple leashes in my RV, as well as multiple tie-out lines, as well as rope. This post makes me think I should pick up a few of those slip leashes for idiot dog owners.

I would have been more "helpful" to the owner with obtaining something to control the dog. Someone at the campground surely had a rope that he could have used (like he didn't have any rope himself - probably uses it to tie out his 4 yr old when it annoys him). I suspect that he was hoping by saying "I don't have a leash or tie out" that you would have forgiven him the "sin" and let it go. Basically, you did. As the owner of two dogs with strong territorial instincts, I have learned that I have to be responsible for every other dog in our proximity because I can't trust their owners to get it and do their responsibility. They think because their dog is "nice" that it's OK for it to approach every other dog. Just had a guy do it today at the vet's - he walked away with a minpin with a sopping wet head. I hope he realizes how lucky he is my dog only drooled all over his little dog...

This is a good reminder to all dog owners to keep a copy of their dog's rabies certificate in the RV and another copy in the toad/tow vehicle (if there is one). You never know when you might need to show proof of a rabies shot and those little metal tags are not usually accepted as proof. I keep a copy in each of my vehicles and in my wallet.

Not sure of your meaning with this statement.

I've had similar problems with little dogs. The owners think its cute when their little dogs bark at or charge big dogs that are leashed. The last one that charged us got a boot up its #@*. In the end it usually isn't the dog its the owners.
