I can see where controlling your food manufacturing process can be important, liability-wise? I offer 3 letters: PBB.
For those who don't live in the Great Lakes area: in 1973, about 700 lbs (pounds, not tons) of a wrong product got mixed into cattle feed - and the mayhem it wreaked throughout our food chain is one of the scariest stories ever.
