As a pet lover who would normally say not a good place for a dog to ride, I commend you on the thought you have put into this. I think the objection that many pet lovers have is for the persons who don't care - just put the dog in the tt and take off. They never consider the pet's comfort or mental state, or understand that they may need to adjust to change, and consider them "just an animal".
In my area with temperatures around 100 degrees cooling is the big issue. When I first started RV'ing I used a single cab truck with a topper and a trailer. I traveled of a night to avoid the heat.
