Curious.
What makes it necessary to kill the coyotes?
Coyotes kill your pets, your livestock, and have even attacked small children in some places. A pack of only two or three coyotes can take down a steer. They run it until it becomes lame then move in for the kill. A hungry pack of coyotes is a killing machine. Have seen it far too often. These are wild animals, not our friendly canines. I have seen them tear apart a neighbor's cat while it was still alive and screaming.
Coyotes are so numerous now they have become a nuisance species and have started to roam suburban neighborhoods in some areas. Our neighbor's two German Shepherds were killed by coyotes. Countless cats have met their demise from coyotes. People are bringing their children and pets in before the sun goes down as coyotes love nocturnal roaming. Rabid coyotes will roam day or night.
My vote is to go ahead and kill coyotes that come on your property as you may be saving not only Dakota's life, but the fur children of your neighbors. Coyotes are brilliant in IQ: once shot on your property that particular pack will rarely come back to your property. You only need to shoot one of them.
