Duncan's latest adventure

This week we went up to Lake Superior. It was wonderful! While there we had a picnic and walked the shoreline while Duncan romped and played exploring new smells. It was so much fun!

After getting back to the truck we gave him a cookie and some water. He was fine. A few minutes later while we were driving, he started coughing horribly and it was wet sounding. Then, he started dripping saliva. It wasn't drooling, it was just dripping. He was soaking everything and coughing.

When we got back to camp, he was still dripping, not coughing so much. I started calling vets in the area. One said yes he should be seen but they had no provider that day. I called another one in Ashland a few miles away and they agreed to fit him in.

Shout out to Bay Area Animal hospital! Dr Erik Haukaas is wonderful!

The vet met us as we came in! He was amazing. Very comforting (to me) and examined Duncan thoroughly. I had called our vet on the way and had them fax his last med exam and shot records.

As it turned out, it was an allergic reaction, unknown etiology. He thinks Duncan stuck his head in flowers or bushes and got a face full of pollen. He didn't need any treatment as the problem was resolving. He said to carry Benadryl tabs with us just in case it happens again.

He's right as rain now with no ill effects. We told him...just because we visit a new place, he doesn't have to meet the vet. :S
