When I had Dog (a shepherd/lab) and Bear-dog (an akita), Dog used to watch tv a lot, Bear-dog didn't really get it. However, I rented the animated movie Balto and both dogs sat on the sofa with me watching the entire movie. It was THAT good! Of course, Bear-dog immediately got down and left at the end when the little girl got all mushy with Balto for saving her life...
The one show I make all my dogs watch is an episode of the syndicated tv show, Forever Knight. It was about a seeing eye dog who got turned into a vampire dog. The main character (a vampire) knew that a loose vampire dog was a disaster and took the dog off to kill him. The dog broke loose, ran back to his owner (an ex-police helicopter pilot who had MS and lost her eyesight) and gave her back her sight, flight, and added immortality to the deal. I feel this is a lesson all my dogs should learn. :)
I liked K-9 a lot. The original Incredible Journey. My biggest issue with pet movies is that if it's a dog movie, they always end the movie with a litter of puppies, and if its a cat movie, they always feed the cat(s) milk.
