Not really that bad considering it is a multi year list and most line items are simply different lots or different package sizes of the same med.; now compare the recall list to the long list of dog meds on the market.antiquedrose wrote:
List of recalled dog meds
Wow...that's reassuring. Not.
A-Z Veterinary Treatment List
Now go look at the list of recalled human drugs during just 2013.
2013 Safety Alerts for Human Medical Products
You'll note there are some common company names on both recalled lists and in some cases for the same problem.Hospira brand Lidocaine and Marcaine: Recall - Presence Of Particulate

- awgdogExplorerHello four legged fur lovers :). Not long ago I lost my four legged friend his name, was Greystoke. He was twenty two when he died. Now, I'm not going to side one way or another about this food problem we have in losing our pets to being poisoned from another country or for that matter our own food pet suppliers.
Now , I'm not an expert on nutrition for dogs however, all in the canine family are scavengers, they are carnivorous, they eat raw meat. they have a digestive system to handle that meat. Sadly over the years we are led to believe that dogs require a balanced diet in advancing that premise, Big cereal co. get on the band wagon and give the propaganda how good and beneficial their dog food is. well, if people want to hear and believe that propaganda so be it . Of course, I'm not an expert and it is only my opinion. But my first dog I had he was eating meat raw NOT COOKED. He also ate raw chicken NOT COOKED. He and I were together over 14 years and he died in his sleep, a natural death. As I mentioned I lost "Greystoke" in February, His food was meat, basically the same as my first dog when I was young, My Grandparents dog died after 15 yrs and he was fed meat NOT COOKED. Now as I mentioned, It's only my opinion-but all the dogs in our family ate meat and did fine .Vets check up very rare, as most vets were farm vets taking of the cattle ,horses, dogs and cats ,not so much, But today we have an industry that is marketed and designed towards our pets (dogs) and the spin-offs well, you get the idea. ( cats also ) Now the best person to ask ,is your Vet, ask them direct questions. My Vet has no vested interest in companies that profit from Pet products and my Vet took excellent care of my Greystoke. By the way, Greystoke loved fresh fish :) Its just my opinion and observation, but dogs and cats are not vegetarians. Another observation, dogs and cats have to EXERCISE. Well as I said, its only my opinion. :) hope all is well with you all :). - Code2HighExplorer

It is not always the agency's fault for poor implementation of "good rules". Without sufficient funding to implement the "good rules", the "good rules" are worthless. These things should be made law/regulation with ALL of the necessary funding for implementation and continuing enforcement; if the implementation and continuing enforment cannot be afforded (or won't be funded) then don't pass the law/regulation.
I'm finding that a lot of these regulatory agencies are far better at writing proposals and creating "studies", than in actually going out and solving the problem..... - antiquedroseExplorerHaving been reimbursed by Premium Edge for salmonella contamination and the resultant expensive vet bill last year after my dog bled out bring red blood from both ends, then two days ago having a less severe go round again, I'm sick of paying money for high end kibble and treats that sicken my animals.
Recently, Wellness brand recalled some jerky because of extra antibiotic levels manufactured into the jerky. Didn't know that was included at any level.
While searching for a food or treat recall that caused the trail of bright red blood following the diarrhea from my dog two days ago, I discovered a list of pet meds recalled, including Vibac's Iverhart Plus heart worm med my two big dogs consumed, it was manufactured incorrectly, leaving dogs potentially not protected for heart worms.
I too laugh ruefully because the food lobbyist and those who stand to prosper by our purchase of commercial dog food as they wring hands and warn us we might leave out a essential micronutrient if we feed our dogs home cooked meals.
I purchased a Vitamix and excalibrater dehydrator to assst in my dog food prep after my sweet dog was poisoned the first time but drifted back to kibble. It may or may have sickened my dog, and if the food or one treat I provide bears responsibility, the manufacturer may fess up or not.
