Happy Birthday puppies

A million years ago, when I was a kid, we lost an English Setter who had retained a pup and nobody knew about it (we sent her back to the breeder to whelp) - so glad BJ is doing well with her pups!!

One of our boys is being pushed out by his brothers so he is not growing as fast as the others. BJ recognizes this and keeps picking him up, unfortunately this is not helping him get more milk. We've started weighing and supplementing him with a bottle. My wife spent last night with him, keeping him warm and bottle feeding him every few hours. BJ readily accepts him when he is placed back with her. He was already scheduled for a vet visit today to remove dewclaws from his back paws (these can catch and be broken off while working) so he'll get checked by the vet today.

I have a cousin in DC and I told her she will be expected to help socialize the boys when they are older. I know it's a tough job, but she'll just have to "suck it up".

The wees send gentle hugs to BJ...sorry she had such a tough time...her pups are adorable..

Birthday's do look exhausting but BJ looks pretty good for what she has been through.

Bless her heart, BJ looks good for all she's been through. How great that they got to come home so soon. As far as she knows, that's just the way puppies get here. So her milk supply is not affected by surgery? The incision is in the low pelvis area below all that? Are you needing to supplement with bottle feeds? I hope your gang of boys is thriving. Congrats on the last (?) new lamb, born while all the excitement was going on.

Aw, thanks for posting more photos. BJ looks tired, but she seems to be taking very good care of these precious pups! Sorry about the loss of the last two.

I'm so sorry about the pups you lost but very glad to hear Mom and the other's are doing well. She is one beautiful mother for sure.

Aw, she looks like she's going to be a good mom. So cute, all of them.
