You consider 55 lbs big? Try doing that to a dog that weighs 150 lbs! Have used Anaro's method with multiple dogs. That can also be done from the front, but doing so from the back causes the head to tilt back naturally. It sounds a bit rough but sometimes it's the only way. If you can get a helper, one can squirt the medicine as the other holds the mouth open.
