Sunflower seeds? So basically, you just feed them like wild birds. :@ We feed the birds, and sunflower seeds are the most popular, with thistle being second. Do hamsters eat thistle seed. :@

When I was say 50 years younger, I fed my hamster sunflower seeds. Lived a good while until he chewed his way out of the wooden cage (yeah I know a bad idea) and my mom's cats got him.

Go to a Pet Shop and buy food especially for Hamsters. They need certain vitamins you can put in their water, certain foods, and wood toys (non-toxic) to keep their teeth filed. Ask if any of the clerks are knowledgeable about Hamsters.
