We brought Puffy home yesterday after lunch - a trembling, nervous mess, poor guy! He's fascinated, but terrified by all the new sights and sounds of a normal home life. We have an x-pen set up in the living room with his crate in it, so he has somewhere to watch everything "safely". The dogs greeted each other with Puppy in the x-pen until they started ignoring him. Last night, I finally brought him out and held him in my lap for a couple of hours, while I ignored him and played on the computer. He finally stopped trembling, as long as I held still. He's frozen in place when anyone moves (outside, too).
When I took him outside to potty, I had to attach him to a swivel stake/cable, b/c he refused to move with me out there (left the dogs inside, too). I left him outside for a few minutes (with me watching through the window) and he finally pottied. I have to carry him wherever I want him to go for now. He's just too scared to move.
He is quite a curious little fellow, which I like, and he actually wagged his little nub several times (as long as we're not near him)! This will definitely take some time, but I was pleased he did so well, considering his issues.
He won't eat yet - too scared. When he does, he'll be starving!
