I'm so happy

We had to put our English Setter down a year and a half ago. She was the bestdog a person could want. A couple of weeks ago my wife was looking at Engish Setter puppies at petfinders.com. I didn't want thr burdon of housebreaking a puppy so we searched for a young female. We found one that we wanted. Lucy is a year old and beautiful. We filled out the application on line and the process began. My vet and the two references provided were contacted. I was interviewed by phone. A home visit was to be scheduled by a local shelter. I happen to have volunteered at that shelter. We were so lighly recommended by the shelter that the home visit was waved. I was interviewed last night by the foster parents and it sounds like we will be the lucky parents of a beautiful new dog. It is my understanding that several have applied for the adoption but were found not to be suitable adoptive parents. This dog is infoster care in West Virginia. so it looks like a trip is in our future.
There are so many beautiful dogs available for adoption that I wish I could adopt more.
My SIL said that it was easier to get a home mortgage than it was to adopt a dog. These people care enough about these dogs that they want to make sure they find good forever homes. I fully agree with them. It's OSER , Ohio English Setter Rescue.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm so excited.

    Well, we picked up Lucy tonight. She is more beautiful than her picture. My Katie and her are getting along much better than we anticipated. A little jealousy from both but I'm not going to play the favorites game.
    She seems to understand what my commands are and I think she will be a fast learner. Not expecting much until we get home. We have some work to do but I think she is up to it. Got a long two day drive home. Hope we can all cope.

    That's what I was thinking, too. :B With all you have to offer, it would be wonderful if you could have two of them. Probably the Rescue will keep an eye out for just the right little one for your family. We are sharing your excitement and can't wait to hear all about Lucy.

    Wonder if you will sleep much tonight? Too much anticipation can keep you awake! What a problem to have huh. Enjoy meeting Lucy, and I hope she is a good little traveler for you.

    We arrived in Huntington, W.V. this evening. We get to meet our new baby tomorrow. We will spend some time with the foster mom and get acquainted with Lucy then head back to Iowa on Friday. I had a new fence put up Monday making her back yard three times as large as it was. She likes to play catch.

    This same rescue has a 6 year old Setter that is small like Lucy. The wife kept talking about her so I checked to see if we could get her too. Unfortunately the dog had been spoken for in April and adoption is pending. We will keep checking and maybe the next perfect one will appear. We love our pets.

    Lucy is so very adorable, she definitely needed a loving home that can give her some love and attention and lots of cuddles.
    Love the name too!
