Info on Canadian online pharmacies for pet meds

My Mom has a cat with cancer.

His medication has been $89 a month for the prescription Leukeran. The drug has worked well for him.

When she went to refill the prescription, the cost went up to $161 for the same dosage, which is a month's supply.

Apparently, there used to be two companies that made the drug, but one stopped and so the price has almost doubled.

We're looking at ordering it online through a Canadian pharmacy, but I'm a bit nervous about doing so.

Can anybody give me any recommendations on an online Canadian pharmacy.

I found one at Allsecurepills.com....but I'm a bit nervous about using them without any idea if they are on the up and up or not.

Dr. Doug, can you give your opinion?
  • Try OnlinepharmaciesCanada.com. We purchase from 1800petmeds.com.
The Canadian equivalent of the FDA is just as strict as in the USA. Their national market is different so many prices are different, many are similar. As for lack of trust in foreign drugs: In the USA States and the Feds are still trying to work out a Pedigree system for medications to prevent mislabeled and fraudulent medications from entering the distribution system. The public is just not made aware of the extent of the problem, but pharmacies get warnings and recalls on a much to frequent basis. If you can get you medication from a pharmacy at a lower price, do so. You might also try talking with the pharmacist at a smaller independent pharmacy. They may be willing to work with you at a price slightly above cost if you purchase an entire bottle. Prices on medications are NOT set by regulation, insurance companies negotiate prices for members, but often profits are then created by raising the price of non-formulary, non-insured, and pet medications. The Chain pharmacist cannot offer special pricing, the independent pharmacist can.
Best to you on your quests,

    Happy Trails.
  • I've been dealing with www.canadadrugs.com for 2 or 3 years now, and have had no problems.
  • Canadian pharmacies seem to be as reputable as American, I suppose you could get online scams as easily either place. Just make sure to investigate as much as you can before ordering.
  • As I said Bumpy I totally respect your opinion.....have a nice day. :)

where on earth did you get that information on three companies world wide? it is wrong, wrong, wrong.

I note that your linked source obtains drugs from third world countries. I hope that none of your medications has a critical dosage requirement.

Canada has the same standards as the US as in a few other country's but at this time I can't remember which ones. There are mishaps or accidents in any country,or pharmacy, know matter where it is manufactured or filled. As a matter of fact I worked at a pharmacy and I quit because the pharmacist was making to many mistakes and the company refused to do anything about it.

With that being said to the OP. I buy some of our Drugs (human) from a Canadian Pharmacy, as a matter of fact I have been buying from there for about 4-years-now. We have never had any problems, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

I've never bought pet meds from them although they do sell them but as in people meds if the occasion arises I woundn't hesitate to do that. Here is a link to where I buy mine, ck it out its very informative.

  • read the small print on the ads. I got one brochure from a "canadian" pharmacy that said that the drugs were shipped directly from off shore sources. take that to mean non FDA regulated firms in third world countries. I have inspected drug firms in Egypt and India. let the buyer beware.
but at what time will she consider it to be a lost cause and let the cat peacefully pass? lots of people are actually selfish to insist on prolonging an animals suffering.

  • There have been several human deaths in Canada -- people who ordered their medications and supplements via online suppliers. Turned out the products they received weren't what they thought it was ... quality control was poor.

Medications and supplements are one thing I would not order from an online supplier, unless that supplier was associated with a known brand-name pharmacy.
