When I was a Weights & Measures Quantity Control Specialist for California I was in quite a few pet food processing plants. No difference between the processing for people meat products and pet foods. They both are USDA inspected and have to meet the same "wholesome" standards. In the plants doing canning I have seen people eat the pet stuff.
