Clearly, there's something calming about being wrapped up in something with some "substance"?
My sis-in-law makes quilts; and had a request for one with pennies sewn into it, so it had definite weight. It was to comfort a child who was scared of thunderstorms! And when I volunteered at a Therapeutic Riding Center, a few of our autistic clients who tended to be hard-to-control, were aided by wearing a "heavy vest" that wrapped snugly around their upper body. Between the vest and the horse's motion, the change in their demeanor was dramatic!
