Valley of Fire is quite lovely and nice this time of year. Lots of good places to walk your furry friends. It's north of Vegas and the campground with hookups is great for RVs. I don't recommend trying to take them into the other campgrounds there, you might get stuck. Drop me a note if you have specific questions about Valley of Fire.
Red Rock is also lovely. There's a nearby "campground" with no hookups, but it's not very "improved." Red Rock is close to Vegas so I recommend one of the Casino campgrounds instead.
Casino camping on the Strip can be pricey but there are more affordable ones east of the strip along Boulder HIghway.
Mt. Charleston has some nice campgrounds if you have chains and like snow.
The Casinos are pretty this time of year, with lots of decorations and free live entertainment wandering the halls. Stay off the gaming floors and out of the stores to have a cheap time! Lots of Sun-Thurs food specials available.
North of Vegas the area around Pahranaghat (is that how you spell it?) is beautiful. I like the campground, don't think there are hookups. Can't remember. Makes a nice base for exploring the nature preserves and Area 51.
South of Vegas the whole Mojave Preserve is lovely this time of year. I like to use the area around Kelso Depot as my home base.
Hope this helps?
