Lost Dog Anchorage AK

I'm on the SMART caravan to Alaska and we're currently at the Golden Nugget RV Park in Anchorage, AK.

Yesterday July 30 around 10 am, my friend's little dog ran off after being frightened. His name is Woody, he is a four year old, eight pound chihuahua. He is very timid and was a rescue dog.

My friend is heartbroken! She was away when it happened and has been searching continuously. All of us in the caravan are doing everything we can to help find Woody.

I know it's a long shot, but if anyone here is in Anchorage right now, please keep an eye out for the little fellow. I'm afraid he won't last long in this traffic.

    I know that this is a long shot, but did you every find Woody or find out anything?

    Update this thread to say no news. :( I'm still in touch with the Chihuahua Rescue people, but I think the chance of finding Woody at this point is almost nonexistent.

    I cruised around the single family homes across the boulevard too.
    . . .there's too many fenced backyards that can't be seen.
    Also, someone working at Denny's next door could have picked him up.
    You might mail a poster to the manager there. . .its a chance.
    I'm now back in the lower 48 too. . .and sorry that I wasn't able to get lucky in your search.

    There are some parts of the country where the philosophy is "finders, keepers" on pets that happen to be loose. It's not fair, but the finders just assume the dog was dumped or the owner did not take proper care of it. In that case, all you can do is hope the dog is scanned by a vet someday and maybe they'll be notified. Not knowing is the most awful thing in the world, though. I bawled myself to sleep for six months over a cat once years ago. I really believe somebody stole him.
