Man and his best Friend

I've had several or rather we have had several dogs and cats.
Our current dog has lived 11 or 12 years according to my wife. I think he is 14.
He is always there when I need a friend.
I've been though a lot since 05. It has changed me and I trying to get back. I don't know who exactly or the why. I could still write a book, maybe.
Whenever I need a friend he will be right there licking my knee or hand and wanting to snuggle or a scratch behind the ear.
he doesn't like riding, in the truck with me as much since I hit the brakes and he hit the dash a few years ago.
Ill have to turn him around. I'm not going fishing without someone with me and I'm determined to get out of here and go.
He's kinda scardy since a neighbor hit him with some bird shot for no reason. I get any gun out and he cowers in fear and for a long time too. He'll hide in the closet etc until the gun is not in sight. I hate that because I don't want to go squirrel hunting or dove hunting alone.
Maybe he won't be scared by a slingshot.
Anyway he's sound asleep on his bed. Tomorrow hell beg for me to go out with him and I'll see how far I can walk. If nothing else we will sit in the sun and scratch his ear.
  • We had to put our 13 yo German Shepard down this past spring and I still miss our walks we took every day. Its been about 6 months now and I'm getting that itch to find a new best friend. My DW said we are not getting another dog until I take up the carpet throughout the house and put down hard wood flooring.

Sounds like a good winter project for me after hunting is over!
  • Whenever I'm feeling really stressed or upset I hug Jake. He's such a snuggle bear and has this incredible innate ability to suck the bad stuff out of you.
  • Otis had a broken leg and Abby never left his side. She laid on the bed next to him for weeks and I had to force her to go outside to play. Dogs are awesome. Agnes
  • Our Josie is my best pal also, she is a bit fussy in our new MH, cause she got used to the Greyhawk floor plan. I take her everywhere with me, she loves walking around, looking for cats to aggrevate , and being at the deer camp, in season, mooching food from the boys. She's 10 years old, and I hope she's around for a long time. I will carry her with me when she's old.
Sure is nice to go glamping with her!
  • Recently returned from a 2 month trip. I was forced to exercise my dog 2 or 3 times per day. I'm proud to say I lost 20 pounds thanks to her.
  • Nice thoughts.

We don't currently have a dog, but we love our neighbor's dog, Garth. He comes to join me when I go out into the yard to sit under a tree in the shade to read. He curls up beside my chair, leaning against my leg, and continually surveys the neighborhood. I felt something on my leg, looked down and saw a spider crawling up, Garth looked over, saw the spider, leaned over, and quickly snatched it up. I love Garth.

We have a great accommodation with out neighbors. Garth uses our yard as a latrine, and we put a plastic chair in the yard where he makes his deposits, and they come to clean it up. It's the best dog that I've never owned.
