These are very common in all breeds of dogs. Your vet will be able to tell a lot by looking at it. Most are benign and only need to be removed if they cause a problem, but dogs do get melanomas, mast cell tumors and other skin cancers that do need to be removed. Your vet may just look, do cytology or recommend removal.
