Question re. color

Comcast is upgrading their system so they sent us a new modum to install. We installed it yesterday afternoon. Got everything up and running fine. This morning when my wife turned on the PC the color on the monitor was faded, almost a greenish tint. Now, the PC, a Dell, is several years old, so maybe it's just coincidence that this happened just at the same time as the new modum was installed. But, I'm thinking there's a connection. Anyone have any suggtestions as to how to get the color back? Thanks. P.S. Please try to keep it in reasonably plain English, as I'm technically challenged as they say.:)

  • I tore apart and rebuilt a PC, hardware and software, 3 times, because of a defective brand new ethernet cable! I could not figure out why my computer would not connect to the internet. Eventually I realized I would connect or not depending if I physically moved the tower!
  • You're quite welcome. I've dealt with this before. It was an expensive lesson for me because I replaced the video card before I figured out it was the cable.

New Computer new Monitor New Cables.. I have the same problem...... And wiggling the cable fixes it.
  • TucsonJim: You were exactly right, my friend. It was the cable coming out of the bottom of the monitor that goes to the computer. I can wiggle it back and forth a little and the color will change. Not to where it goes into the back of the computer, but right at the monitor itself. We'll just be careful to not hit it till time to replace the monitor. Thanks loads for your help.:)
  • My first thought is that you have a bad cable between the computer and the monitor. If you have a spare, check it out first before going further. I don't think your modem is the problem. I suspect that when you were moving cables during the disconnect/reconnect something came loose or broke.
