I used to buy expensive treats, or cook up cuts of meat for treats... but now I dehydrate bits of hot dogs in the microwave. They are cheap and easy (can even be held in a pocket). And! They are the favored treat amoung my 3 dogs - go figure.
I raw feed, so I suppose you could consider that people food. Sometimes in their morning breakfast bowl they'll get a bit of leftover pasta, and they usually get some broccoli when DH is feeding the bird, but all the other stuff we just haven't given them. We usually eat at the coffee table, and Spike might even be sitting on my lap, but he doesn't even look at what's on my plate - he's never gotten anything off it and doesn't expect otherwise.
Puppies are so much fun! They are little learning sponges :-)
