Pets at campgrounds

Usually means outside. But there are also a lot of private camp grounds that do not allow multiple large breeds or aggressive breads. One of which is a Dalmation.

All will require dogs on leash outside. Many specify no unattended dogs left outside, even on a leash. And occasionally you will find one that says no dogs left unattended, even inside. It is not unusual for an unattended dog to bark constantly until its owners return although those owners don't seem to think so, or don't care.

We traveled all over the USA and had two large ROTTS and never had a problem inside or out as long as they were on a lease. People were scared of them .They both passed away some years ago but we traveled with them for 5 or 6 years

We never tried leasing! Always thought it better to own outright.

We traveled with our dogs for a short time last year and never had any problem while on a leash but as we were planning this years trip (3 - 4 months) we started looking at campgrounds web sites and noticed that many of them said that pets can not be left attended. We aren't sure what that means.

If in doubt, call ahead and ask. That's what I've always done, and I've almost always been told that it was fine to leave well-behaved (quiet) pets alone in our RV.

Only one time in seven years have we encountered a campground where we were told it was NOT okay to leave them. I politely told the person I spoke with that we'd find another campground (to let them know they'd lost business).

If you aren't positive that your dogs are quiet inside your RV, you can leave a voice-activated recorder on while you're gone. There's also Bark Sentry.

The unattended rule is usually for both inside, and out. And for one simple reason. To cover the barking dogs in, and out of the RV. IF you dog does not bark. then no one will ever know you left it behind. IF your dog does bark, Then the CG warned you, and can, and will ask you to leave.

My self. I love my dog way too much to coop him up in a RV. So he stays home, loose, in his private yard.

Not in my experience-usually means either. Check with the individual campground. Rules are different from cg to cg. Some don't care about size or breed, some do. Although many on here think it's acceptable, I wouldn't flaunt the rules. It's unfair as no one is "special" and exempt, although they think they might be, and you don't want to face getting removed from the cg with no place to go. Even if they are quiet when you are away from the RV there's always a chance some nosy posey will squeal.

We didn't travel all that much with the dogs because we have an excellent kennel where they get lots of space, exercise, and love. If we couldn't take them with us when we were exploring or leave them in the RV for at least short periods of time (dogs need their rest too), they went to the doggie hotel.
