Pig in rv

Two years ago when we were at Ft. Wilderness at Disney, there was a pig in one of the campers. Evidently the owner goes there every year, no problems.

Just FYI, most of our RVing at the time was in State Parks and some private campgrounds. We never had any problems.

Most of the time Chelsea would get her picture taken and put up in the ranger station. We stayed at one park over 4th of July and everyone was absolutely enthralled with our piggy (including the owners).

Went back a year later and when I walked in the registration booth I was greeted with "oh look, it's Chelsea's dad." Some other campers remembered us too. She was quite the hit just about anywhere we went.

One state park we went too, had a couple of older gentlemen sitting in chairs and just watching folks back-in and get settled. We got in our site across from them, got set and then let Chelsea out. As she walked down her ramp one of the guys looked at the other one and said "well now there's something you don't see every day."

I think that the campground would want to know if you are going to dig a hole your site or will you have a pit to cook it in. Just kidding

Many parks have policies that state "no farm animals". Might even be required by local health or zoning laws. I know of a park that had a problem with a pig. The pig parents set up a pen and the pig decided it was a good place to root. The park lost a tree and had big hole where there was once grass. I know the story because the park called and warned that they were headed towards my part of the country (contrary to popular belief, parks actually do work together on some things). They didn't try to stay with us, so that was the end of the tale for us. But it goes to show the adage "why take chances" is usually a sound business practice.

Took ours RVing. Loved to walk around the campgrounds on a leash. Often got treats (veggies or fruit) from other campers, especially the young ones. :) Won first place once in a July 4th pet parade. Boy, she loved that watermelon they gave her.

Chelsea (the pig) often got her picture taken and/or video taped. People would remember her name and then say "and you were who again." :)

This took place mainly in Oregon and Washington.

I would never take a pig to Arizona. Before you knew it, it would be "bacon" in the sun.

A fun story to check out is Esther the Wonder Pig, who was supposed to be a mini pig. Four or five years later, she turned out to be 600 pounds of house pig, rather than a 70 pound pet. Lots of videos of her antics on her Facebook page.
