I suspect we do not have all the facts. My business has installed many K9 packages that start the car, turn the AC on, open the windows, and even will open the door via remote control. We call that the dobie-o-matic. I have never seen an officer that didn't consider his dog part of the family. They take them home at night. Anyone that has lost a pet can imagine the grief he is feeling. Could have been a vehicle equipment failure.
