Just because you don't hear anymore doesn't mean it was quashed. SOP is to put them on leave until investigation is finished. Doubt it's a felony killing a dog. Maybe it is a criminal offense in that state. Much of it depends on how it happened. Did he just forget and leave the dog there or was he in an emergency situation. Worse case is he will get fired and get probation on the criminal charge.
