This was a tragic, unintentional death of a dog. It shouldn't have happened, and there should be sanctions against the officer. However, equating the death of this dog with a human death is taking it waaayy too far. It was a DOG, it was not a police officer, despite how some jurisdictions give that distinction to an animal.
