Gretchen is also suffering from degenerative myelopathy. The booties serve two important purposes:
- They give her rear paws added traction on our hardwood floors. If she did not have them on, she would be falling all the time
- DM causes the paws to "knuckle under" when walking. They protect the tops of her paws and toenails from abrasion, especially outside on hard surfaces such as concrete.
