My Macy is now 9 years old and lately she has not been acting like herself. While she does not show any signs of being in pain she is moving a lot slower. This has been going on for about a week now I am very worried about her as I just have a bad feeling about this.Just now I was letting both of the girls out into the backyard for their last bathroom break for the night and she was looking at me like I was going to beat her, which has NEVER happened! I had to put Her Little Sister out in the yard then come back for Macy. She just stood there and looked at me then walked out like nothing happened.If she is not acting a little more like herself by Monday I will be taking her into the Vet.Here is a Picture of my Baby, and I would really appreciate any Good Thoughts and Prayers as I am also dealing with a very close relative that has terminal Cancer and I just am not sure that I can take much more now. I think it's good to trust our instincts when it comes to pets. I'd take Macy to the vet, if only to relieve your mind. It could be something as simple as a foxtail in her ear, or maybe nothing, but then you'd have one less stress in your life. So sorry about the illness in your family. That's a heartbreaker. Take care of yourself.

I like to say that I did not recue her She recued Me!Sorry, for the long posts. This is just a tough time for me as I am losing my Uncle, whom I am much closer to than I was ever to my father. He is nearing the end to his battle with cancer and I am not sure how much longer that he will be with us. I visit every other day and this has been tough watching him go through this for the past year or so but I know that when the time comes he will be at piece.

Sounds like it's time for a trip to the vet. Sorry you're going through so much and keep in mind it could be something quite treatable.You might try some gentle massage up and down her spine and see if that results in any change in demeanor.

That does sound like some kind of pain level, possibly arthritis. If that's the problem, there are some vet pain meds that can give Macy quality of life for a very important period of time. I hope you take her to the vet as this is one thing you can control while you may not be able to help your uncle in a tangible way. I am sure your love and care for him speaks volumes, though. Be brave and your dog buddies will help you get through this.

Thanks Everyone for all of the caring posts. We will be making a trip to the Vet on Monday.

As for picking her up, I would do that but unfortunately she likes to come and go and I am worried that she might hurt herself if she tries to jump down by herself.

Macy has always had a funny little quirk. If she is sleeping or just relaxed and I reach over to gently pet her, she will get up and move a couple of minutes later. She does not even react to my touch so I know I am not startling her. Usually she will start out in bead but move to the tile floor if she gets hot. Not sure if I posted this yet of not, last night she came in and sat next to my bed and stared at me so I started to stroke her fur. Cone she laid down I stopped for a minute and she gave me that "Why Did You Stop Daddy" looks, so I continued to pet her. She stayed there for almost three hours which is a long time for her to stay in one place.

I will make sure to report back on Monday (Hopefully, they can get me in that day) when I get her into see the Vet.

You and Macy will be in my thoughts and prayers. Your post brought tears to my eyes as it brought back memories of babies in my past that I have had to let cross over the Rainbow Bridge. It is one of the hardest decision to make and I will be hoping for a positive report regarding Macy. Please keep us updated. Hugs and kisses to Macy!

Prayers that this turns out to be arthritis (which still impacts their activity level a lot). I really missed the morning "snuggle in bed" with my beloved Ike when arthritis made it so he couldn't make that leap any more; so every now and then I'd get down on the floor with him. Not that *I* get up and down all that great....LOL!

If it is something like arthritis, seeing a rehab vet might be a good choice. They are doing wonderful things these days with exercise, laser therapy and acupuncture. Our three legged Lab/Chessie goes in monthly for a treatment. Makes him feel great.

It does sound like age has caught up to her in the respect that he can't jump up on the bed or the recliner and maybe it's painful to jump back down.

He definitely needs a check up, hopefully it may be resolved by giving him a supplement for arthritis or a mild pain med.

Since he's eating and drinking and relieving normally I would be more optimistic that it's a pain issue.

Maybe lift his up on your lap and your bed, that will put a smile on his face.
