X2. Most folks and animals have a hard time being woken up from a deep sleep unexpectedly. Older folks and animals more so. My Bat-dog is a major dreamer and if I wake her suddenly from a deep sleep, she is usually disoriented for a few moments. Especially if it was a nightmare. I've learned to gently pet her and let her ease out of the sleep, rather than just abruptly wake her.
