Crowe - I addressed that comment because it reads as "these people are being good business people and cutting a loss". Nowhere did I read anyone who agreed with it addressing the fact that there is a difference between a dog and a bar stool. This difference MUST become ingrained in our thinking.
I spent too many years doing rescue work trying to clean up after people like this. The inbred, sickly animals who were suffering because some idiot decided breeding cocka-shihs was a great money making scheme. The lady who would let her cat outside to get pregnant so she could sell the kittens to the pet store for cigarette money - and when the pet store didn't want the kittens, she dumped them in the creek. The rehab counselor whose client wanted to raise police dogs so she had the state buy him a pair of golden retrievers - when the venture failed, the dogs were neglected while the counselor tried to find homes for the dogs (so many things wrong with this last one).
