RV Pet Ramp Recommendation

I've posted before, maybe in this forum, of my search for a pet ramp for our children. There are 3: Corgi, Jack Russell and Catahoula. I have the usual sources: Pet Smart, Dr. Foster and PetStep. Nothing I've seen has really excited me. All input appreciated.

THANKS ford truck guy! Where did you get it? What is the name, model, etc?

I THINK it is a Simpson Ventures 16220 Smart Ramp ( Mrs. Herzher's Smart Ramp) .. And I BELIEVE that we got it online at Waifair.com.... online...
  • I use the Petstep for our 75 lb Golden. Works great.

Bought a telescoping plastic ramp at Petsmart first. But it was a little shaky and the thin carpet material was slick. Our dog did not much like it. The Perstep is much sturdier (I can walk up it), more stable, and not at all slick.
  • We just shopped for a ramp for our Springer as he damaged his cruciate ligament and will require surgery. No steps or jumping up for about 3 to 4 months. We ended up with a Solvit Telescoping Deluxe XL. It has a nonskid surface and can extend 87" so that we can run it to the inside step of our RV without the ramp being too steep. It is really sturdy - weight limit is 300 lbs, but at the same time only weights 18 lbs so I can easily handle it without my husband's help. So far about 2 weeks into this, we have been very pleased with it. Works good getting him into the back seat of the truck as well. You can get an accessory that helps stablize the ramp when you need to run it at an angle (due the door not opening enough to run it straight to the seat) to the seat of your car. Amazon is showing them available now for $117 which is about $10 less than what we paid.
  • We needed a pet ramp so our aging dog could get up into rear truck seat.
ALL of the commercial ones were too wide for the quad cab rear door/door seal

1---1X3 8 foot hard wood cut in half for side rails
1---1X2 8 foot (any wood) cut into 12" pieces for cross supports

Screw rails and cross supports together
Cut 2-----12X46 pieces from 1/4" paneling
Screw it down onto cross pieces...cover with carpet.

68# dog has been using it for 4 yrs. getting into out of truck

We have used a Petstep ramp for years. Same experience as BB_TX.

Our 185lb English Mastiff goes up and down it no problem.
  • 1x10x6 cut one foot off use a 8 inch piano hinge reattach the one foot piece some indoor/outdoor carpet for traction. And Lowes will cut the board no charge if you choose not to get out the saw.
