When we camped with our boxer we never left her alone. She did not like being locked up in the camper. We tested it a couple times - we would leave her in the camper and walk away, everything seemed fine. On a hunch I headed back to the camper from a different angle - dog was in the window (pushed the blinds out of the way), and was barking. Turns out she started barking the moment we got out of sight, and stopped when we returned, so we thought she was fine. After we figured that out we simply always either took her with us site seeing or someone stayed at the campground with her (I had no problem napping with the dog at the campsite, lol!).
I noticed this happens a lot with neighbors at campgrounds. Dog is fine while owners are nearby, but the moment they leave the dog starts barking. Stops barking when the dog sees them coming back.
So if your camping neighbors or management says your dog is barking, don't automatically say no. Make the effort to find out for sure!
