If I were getting LGDs to fend of a cougar that has fed multiple times on the same flock I would make sure the LGDs were protected with Turkish spiked collars. However, the main mode of protection from these dogs is barking and marking their territory to let the predators know the flock won't be an easy meal.
The USDA is starting a study on the effectiveness of three larger LGD breeds.
