Screen Room Suggestions for Cats

Hi all,

My husband and I are full time RVers with a medium sized dog and 2 cats. We are looking into purchasing a screen room that could allow our cats (and dog, of course) to enjoy some fresh air. We would love feedback on anyone that has used a screen room for this purpose or who has a screen room and may give us general feedback, as we have not been able to see a screen room in person.

Cat info - both of our cats are indoor only cats who have had patios/enclosures screened in for them at previous sticks & bricks homes (not spoiled at all!). I will not let them roam free. One was an indoor/outdoor cat before getting adopted into our household and would love to be outside at all times - he will walk on leash & we do that but this option isn't helpful to our second cat. The second is a scaredy-cat so he will not walk on leash but is curious and has always liked to have the option to explore an enclosure at his own pace, eventually loving it & growing in his self-confidence.

The cats would only be allowed into the screen room with us there to enjoy it as well. And we are willing to make modifications for their security & safety.

Thank you in advance!
  • Cats are happiest in territory they know. I would keep them in the RV with their litter box. A screen room would also need an attached floor because dogs and cats will slip out under the wall and escape.

If you think the cats need fresh air, open a window with a very secure screen in the RV. Take the dog on a leash for walk.
  • I do not think I would trust my cats in a screen room, (you should see our screen doors at home. We just purchased a roll of cat climbing screen at Lowes, a friend swears by it so we are going to try it..
  • This probably won't answer your specific question - but I was searching for similar thoughts just a short while ago. Link to the thread below. Hope you find something that works for you.
