I may lay down on the floor and sleep with him. He would climb in the bed with us but that's a no no. He keeps us awake as it is with coughing and gagging. Got a growth between his lungs on spine and on hip.
Sometimes change pants twice a day.
Ahhh, well that settles it for me. Let him enjoy life as it is. When he's gone, you'll probably laugh at ol slobber britches and wish you had it back. How do I know, been there. Not necessarily with slobber britches, but a bad habit of a pet that is now gone and wishing sometimes if I had her back, I'd accept the bad habit again. :)
