- rockhillmanorExplorer IISmall ants are going to be you main problem in Florida.
they are not like the sweet ants up North that seek out food, these guys are just looking for any type of moisture/water.
Preventing them from getting in is paramount. Because once they get in it will take WEEKS to get them out!
That said be VERY VERY careful about using 'home defense' and 'spectricide' sprays ANY where your pets are going to be. I've had dogs have seizures from coming in contact with using those products. Bottom line I will not use that stuff around an RV.
Safe alternative is using SEVIN "powder", do NOT use the granules it is not intended to be used around animals.
1. Sprinkle 'closely' around all your tires and where each and every water hose, electrical cord comes out of your RV and touches the ground. I do reapply after heavy rains but the stuff is very inexpensive.
2. Pick up Terro ant bait at any grocery store and put them under all your sinks.
Tip: Do not lean anything against your RV. I sprinkled my RV with Sevin and had no ants what so ever in my MH UNTIL I leaned the darn rod that you use to open your awning against my MH and came home to them marching right up the rod into the weeps holes in the cap over window and into the MH!. :S
Found at tractor supply.
Come on down the weather is fine and the ants are waiting for you! - LynnandCarolExplorerJust buy a gallon of home defender at Walmart or Lowes and spray a wall around your RV double hitting all the ground contact points. You will be good to go! We stay year round in South-TX and spray monthly and NO problems!
- Dick_BExplorerWhile you are waiting try searching this Forum for `ants' then search the results for `Florida'.
