Hand commands are great!!! Years ago I taught our new pup hand signals/signs to sit, speak, whisper, shake hands, lay, stay, dance and several other small signs. As time went on she became deaf and remained that way for several years. I was great to still be able to communicate with her and I'm sure it made her life better. Our dog now also knows many hand signs. It doesn't take much effort to teach them or at least the ones I've had.
