Temperature Monitoring For Your Pets
I have seen some talk here about monitoring the temperature for your pets in an RV or trailer but thought I would post my setup incase it helps anyone.
You need to purchase 4 items:
A LaCrosse Alerts Monitoring System - $80
Temp Alert System
A Cradlepoint Router - $130 - 180
Router
A Verizon USB Modem - $Free with 2 year contract
Modem
A UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) - $100 - 150
Here's an example but you could pick what you would want
Power Supply
When said and done, you have an approximate $410 equipment cost depending on what you pick. Once setup, you can decide when to have the system alert you. It will send you a text and email if the temperature exceeds your preset limit. As long as you get a signal with Verizon, then it will work okay and monitor the temperature in your trailer or RV. You can also login to your account from a phone or any Internet enabled computer and view the current temperatures in there.
Other related costs include a $20 charge to add the Verizon Modem to the account. And also the temperature monitor system comes with 1 year of enhanced alerting. After that you would pay a yearly fee to continue.
We use this system when we take our Sheltie and Cavi along and leave them for a while in the trailer. Anyways, I hope this helps some people that are looking for ways to safely monitor the temps for their pets.
