My dog wants to be fed - she maintains a "sit", without being asked, in front of a full bowl of food that I place on the floor as long as it takes until I say, "Free," and then wags her tail to say thanks.
My (former) cat wanted to be fed - at 6 a.m. one Memorial Day weekend, so she bounced around the bed to awaken us, boing-boing, with my face serving as a springboard. I think the emergency room doc only needed to take about four stitches on my lower eyelid.
